Our History
Founded in 1978 as MacAllister Engineering Ltd., the company’s first offices were in Douglas West. A portfolio of domestic and multinational customers quickly grew from our early offerings of dust extraction and central vacuum systems for industry. Companies from the agricultural sector like provender mills, saw-mills and creameries along with a number of pharmaceuticals, joineries, food producers, breweries and distilleries kept our services in demand and our office lights on in these early days.
During the eighties, we moved to Ballycurreen where we could grow the workshop team and commit to bigger projects. Since then, we moved to a bigger premises nearby in Ballycurreen and widened our scope of services to take on a broad range of fabrication jobs. The eighties, nineties and noughties were times of further growth and consolidation as we added more customers from more diverse sectors, and established closer relationships with some of the existing customers and suppliers that we had been trading with. We are happy to say that many of these relationships are as strong today as they have ever been.
From boom to bust and back, we’ve been lucky to have a group of loyal customers that always kept us busy. Our key area of competence with them has always been in the use of air in engineering solutions and in 2014 (as Irish business really started to return again), we decided to rebrand as MAE Air Systems Ltd. to reflect the type of work we wanted to offer our customers.
In the intervening years, we have avoided the temptation of scaling up to accept work in other areas of the sector that we could do but just don’t particularly love. This focus of ours on air systems has enabled us to have a settled expert team in an industry that we prefer and we really haven’t looked back! We want our name to become synonymous with high quality dust extraction systems and spares in Ireland.
